If you have Wing Chun experience already we can develop a training plan to suit you. Tim has over 25 years experience of Wing Chun from the Ip Chun lineage (through Sifu Colin Ward) and is currently training under a Chu Shong Tin lineage (through Sifu Daniel Parr).
Whichever method of Wing Chun you have previously done, (if any), we can arrange a program which will help you improve and develop your Wing Chun. We also offer locally based classes in Leeds and Bradford and arrange courses and events which you can attend.
My Journey
I originally started learning Wing Chun in 1991 from Sifu Colin Ward. Before that I had done some Karate, Taekwondo and Judo. But there was something about Wing Chun which jumped out at me immediately. It was light of touch and my instructor could easily deflect my attack without much effort. I was hooked from the beginning and trained regularly for several years.
A change of address forced me to look elsewhere for my Wing Chun studies and I was disappointed with the instruction I found so I continued travelling back to my original instructor in Leeds for years.
I found Sifu Daniel Parr of the Shu Shong Tin lineage in 2021 at a time when I felt a little stuck in my training. I was teaching at this point and had opened a school in Bradford in 2010. Initially the transition to starting again was difficult. There was a lot of resistance to a different way of doing things. But as I persevered I started to understand the differences between the two styles of Wing Chun and the different style improved my understanding of Wing Chun as a system of self defence.
If you’re coming from a particular lineage of Wing Chun, it can be difficult to change styles, particularly if you have invested a lot of time and energy in it. However, if you want to improve at anything it’s always worth “emptying your cup” so you can fill it with some new information.
